Getting to Know JJim-Jil-Bang (Korean Style Spa / Sauna)
with VIP Plastic Surgery Center
What is JJimjilbang?
Jjimjilbang (찜질방) is a gender-segregated bathhouse in South Korea, which consists of hot tubs and saunas. However, it is different from a typical bathhouse. Jjimjilbang also consists of unisex areas, where people wear clothes provided by the jjimjilbang. These communal areas have restaurants, snack bars, televisions, arcade, gym, computer room, karaoke, nail salon, children’s playroom…you name it.
Jjimjilbang Must Haves
You should definitely try jjimjilbang staples: eggs (usually baked) and sikhye (식혜), a traditional sweet Korean beverage.
Activities to Relaxation
Furthermore, there are various themed rooms with different temperatures and wall decorations. If you become exhausted from all the entertainment, no need to worry, as sleeping rooms are also provided.
After you’ve entertained yourself with the various facilities, you are ready to experience the unique Korean bathhouse!
Traditional Korean Style Bathing
Although it is typical to wash the body with soap, Koreans go the extra mile to scrub off ttae (때), the Korean term for dead skin cells (Fun fact: they look like eraser bits). First, you need to wet your skin by entering a warm/hot bathtub in order for the ttae to rise to the top of your skin. Give it around 10 to 15 minutes. Then you can exfoliate your entire body with a thin green towel called ttaemiri (때밀이) towel. Getting rid of ttae will result in a fresh and brighter skin.
24 Hours of Fun, Relaxing, and Bathing
Most of the jjimjilbangs are open 24 hours. If you are looking to kill time, why not try out a jjimjilbang in the area to relax, entertain yourself, become fresh and clean, as well as improve beauty of your skin?
