VIP FAQ: Facelift & Endoscopic Forehead Lift
1. Facelift is a big surgery, is there a lot of pain?
Patients will have painkiller injected after the surgery, so there isn’t any pain. However, if the patient still feels some pain, the doctor can prescribe medication to reduce pain.
2. What kind of anesthesia is used?
Patients will be put into IV sedation.
3. Where would the scar be left?
The incision is from the hairline through the inside of ear, which will be back of the ear, so it won’t be visible from the front.
4. How long does it take to subside swelling?
It depends on the patient’s condition, but in about 2 to 3 weeks, the swelling will get a lot better.
5. When can I start exercising?
Light exercise can be done from 3 to 4 weeks after the surgery, but for about 2 months, please avoid extreme sports and sauna.
6. What is the SMAS-facelift?
SMAS-facelift is not only lifting the skin layer but also the SMAS layer. SMAS layer is right beneath the skin layer, and when these layers are both tightened, the result of the facelift is more natural and long-lasting. The incisions will be made near the ear and hairline for minimal scarring. This scarring is carefully stitched, so after a month or so, the scarring will be inconspicuous.
7. Why do I need an endoscopic forehead lift?
Areas around the eyes lose the skin elasticity and the muscles at the first signs of aging, consequently developing droopy eyebrows and forehead wrinkles. The muscles that hold the upper eyelid and forehead become weak and loose, causing deeper wrinkles. Therefore, VIP’s endoscopic forehead lift is much more effective than Botox injection, as it addresses not only the forehead but also the droopy eyebrows with a semi-permanent result.
8. What is the procedure of the endoscopic forehead lift?
There will be a small incision on the hairline, leaving no visible scars as they will be hidden in the hairline. This procedure can lift everything from the hairline to the eyebrows. It tightens and makes the entire forehead smooth while lifting the eyebrow area which ‘opens up’ the entire upper face.
9. What should I be careful of after the endoscopic forehead lift?
Minor eyebrow asymmetry can be addressed with this type of lift. Following the procedure, there will be some bruising and swelling. Patients can return to daily activities within 2 weeks.
